Many of the skin products on the market are topical creams and lotions that treat symptoms after they have already manifested. The human body’s largest organ is the skin. Under the thin layer of dead skin cells is an expanse of living breathing tissue that shows signs of stress if not nourished properly. If you are what you eat, then you’ll be able to see it in your skin! In the same way that an artery can harden and fill with plaque, skin can lose its elasticity and radiance if it does not receive the nutrients that it needs to stay clear and healthy.
The number one thing that you can do to benefit your skin is to maintain a constant supply of natural antioxidants to protect against the damage caused by free radicals and sunburns. Some of the highest sources are blueberries, blackberries, strawberries and plums. Pack them into your regimen with Honeyed Yogurt & Mixed Berries with Grain Waffles. To go one step further, with even more antioxidant punching power, drink green tea which may help reverse the effects of sun damage and fight skin cancer; try Revolution Green Tea to knock out those oxidizers.
Good fats also play a crucial role in making sure that the cell membrane stays water proof, fluid, and capable of eliminating waste. Essential fatty acids include omega-6 and omega-3, of which Americans do not get enough omega-3’s. Try Lindsay Kalamata Olives and Colavita Extra Virgin Olive Oil in Pasta with Tuna and Olive Vinaigrette. Whole olives and cold or expeller pressed EVOO contain nutrients that give them that bright green color and they are very popular
